3 weeks ago I posted a tip on how to obtain a 1 year Dr.Web Antivirus v5 license key valid for 1 year. After a few days, the promotion has been restricted to only China users. If you are not from China or you are not using a China IP address, you’ll get an error saying “Sorry, this event is not for foreign users!”. The logical way to bypass this restriction is to use a China proxy. It is troublesome to find a working China proxy and even if you found one, very likely it has already been used to generate a license key and you cannot re-use it.
Today’s post is a very short one and its more like an update to the article I posted 3 weeks ago. Out of curiosity I tried to generate a new Dr.Web license key today morning without using a China proxy. I got popup that says that this even is not for foreign users but weirdly when I checked my inbox, I still got an email from Dr.Web with the 16 digit serial number! This is obviously a bug which they’ve yet to discover. If you want the keys, get it NOW before they fix the bug.
1. Go to this page http://www.drweb.com.cn/other/frdrweb.aspx
2. Click the button on the right.
3. Enter your email in the SECOND box. You can simply enter anything on the other boxes and also make sure you also selected an option from the drop down box. Click the button on the right.
4. Again simply enter anything in the boxes and also select an option from the dropdown menu. Finally type in the exact random combination of numbers and letters that you see. Click the button on the right.
5. Now you get the error “Sorry, this event is not for foreign users!”
6. Check your email and note down the key.
7. You can register your code to get a license key file.
8. Download Dr.Web Antivirus v5 from here.
I personally don’t really like to use Dr.Web Antivirus because I find that it is quite heavy in system resource, slow scanning speed and low detection rate. I’m just sharing this update with you in case you think that the offer is over and didn’t even bother trying. By the way, this web form remembers your IP address. If you want to generate extra keys, just reconnect your Internet to get a new IP address and you can request for another one.
As for 100 BitDefender Internet Security 2010 license key giveaway, I’ve decided to close the draw and start drawing for the lucky winners today instead of Sunday. Reason is after posting the article for a day, it has generated more than 1700 comments. I am am pretty busy today and not sure if I can have the results posted. If not, they’ll be posted tomorrow.
