One thing about spending your holidays in Europe is you will be taking lots and lots of pictures because everything there is so beautiful. During my honeymoon, me and my wife had taken thousands of pictures because we had our own camera. We were snapping every nice building and beautiful scenery. When we got back, some of our friends and relatives were asking us to send the photos taken in Europe but I know it wasn’t easy because every picture is in very high resolution and resizing all of them is going to be a tedious task. Moreover, I wasn’t really very sure what is the best way or software to batch resize and compress the images so that the quality is still there and the file size is small.

Christoph Schmid from the balesio team contacted me just in time because the company wanted to sponsor a few hundred license for FILEminimizer Pictures. FILEminimizer Pictures reduces the file size of JPEG, GIF, TIFF, PNG, BMP and EMF images, pictures and photos by up to 98% using an intelligent image compression technique which preserves the original quality. As FILEminimizer does not create any zip or rar archive, there is no unzipping necessary. The optimized images, photos and pictures are then much smaller, ideal for sharing on Facebook, Flickr and other online platforms and they are perfect for being sent via e-mail. Recipients do not require the software to edit or view the optimized images and photos. Each FILEminimizer Pictures license cost € 24.95 but thanks to the sponsorship, we’re able to give away 200 license for FREE!

There are 3 compression examples on balesio’s website and it is REALLY impressive. You can’t really see any difference with your naked eye and the file size has been drastically reduced from 1.31MB to 0.24MB! You can download and test the latest version of FILEminimizer Pictures yourself from this link FILEminimizerPictures-Setup.exe

It’s really a no brainer to use FILEminizer Pictures to automatically compress multiple pictures. Just click Open Files to select the files that you want to compress and then click Optimize Files. Before optimizing the files, you can select 3 types of compression settings which is low, standard and web. If you’re a more advanced user and would like to have your own control, you can configure the settings for “Custom Compression”.

My wife selected 209 pictures to be uploaded to Facebook and the total file size for the original images are 704MB. After compressing all the photos, it has been reduced to only 24.2MB! My wife can now upload the photos much faster to facebook and her friends can also download and view them faster too.

Some people will think that WinZIP is better but they are wrong. WinZIP is useful to pack multiple files into one but FILEminizer Pictures compresses the image itself. Actually MyDigitalLife has done a giveaway on this software earlier this month so whoever missed it, here’s your chance again. Just write a comment on how do you intend to use FILEminimizer Pictures and include your valid email address at the box where it says E-mail (*). At first I wanted to have the same rule which is the first 200 people who writes a comment gets it! But later I found out from forum that someone cheated in MDL giveaway, so now I will instead select the 200 users randomly. Winners be selected tomorrow and will get the FILEminimizer Pictures registration information directly from balesio.

P/S: Remember to check tomorrow’s article at 3PM GMT+08:00 (Malaysian time) because something that is really HOT will be published. If it’s your sleeping time, stay awake and don’t miss it! All I can say is it definitely won’t last long!
