The last time I changed the design of this website was on January 1st 2008 which was more than 3 years ago. It was based on the free Illacrimo theme but modified to suit what I wanted to display. Having the same design for such a long time can get a little boring and unproductive for me. Moreover I have also been getting comments on the fonts being too small and hard to read especially when the computer monitors today is more than 20″ in size.
Few months back I’ve changed the forum design from the default vBulletin skin to a new skin called Aesthetica and gotten a lot of positive comments. So I went ahead and quietly developed a very similar design for the blog. It was ready for quite some time but did not want to switch to the new theme because I was having the busiest time during that period. I thought that there is no point switching to a new design that may dazzle some of you but end up with no new articles. So I waited….
Now that I am pretty sure that I have more time to be on the computer learning new stuff and sharing with you, I’ve decided to activate the new theme for this blog. Here are the changes:
1. New theme
– Theme is custom made and still requires optimization such as CSS sprites so that it loads faster. Fonts are bigger and more readable. Need to sort out the category because last time I grouped all articles into Computers.
2. Social bar
– Some of you that want to +1, Like or Tweet the articles that you find interesting, you can now easily do so from the social bar that is located at the left hand side.
3. Disqus comment system
– I switched to Disqus because I wanted only logged in users to post comments. Allowing guest to comment will only bring in spammers and trolls which are a waste of time reading and deleting them.
I hope you all like this new design and appreciate any comments on how to improve it further.
